Melania gets booed by middle school and high school kids during opioid addiction press stop

The Trumps are not well liked by the majority of the country. Yes, there are a ton of really duped angry, predominantly scared and racist people who worship at the cult of whiteness and charlatanism, but most Americans would rather the Trumps disappear from our public imaginations. Melania Trump, fresh off of solving online bullying—by shutting up about it and letting the world’s biggest online bully, her husband, continue to terrorize the planet with his small stubby bigot’s fingers—wanted to help remind Americans that this administration is doing virtually nothing to combat or ameliorate the current opioid crisis. Appearing at the “Be Best” Youth Summit on Opioid Awareness at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, the first lady was roundly booed (and lightly cheered, maybe?) as she walked to the podium.

The moderator was able to work around this by asking the audience to stand if they have been affected by opioid addiction in their family or other loved ones. It was a smart move in an otherwise no-win situation. Buzzfeed reports that the school-age kids continued being boisterous during her five minute speech, and roundly booed her again when she walked off the stage. According to one White House reporter, this was the worst public reception she has seen Melania Trump receive in the last three years.

Opioid addiction, or any addiction for that matter, profoundly affects all of us regardless of how progressive or conservative we are, no matter whether we are pacifists or hawks, bigots or not. Unfortunately, watching gangsters hand out turkeys for Thanksgiving doesn’t change the fact that they are gangsters, making their money by grinding down millions of people. Melania, like other complicit Republicans, has blood on her hands and playing politics doesn’t cover that any more.
