Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D. NY) in support of Ben Jealous’ (D. MD) gubernatorial campaign:
I've always said that as elected officials, if we're not helping people we should go home.
But lately, it seems like too many of our leaders are pushing extreme, harmful policies rather than working together towards real solutions.
We can change that and elect leaders who will fight for the communities they represent, but it depends on every one of us making our voices heard. None of us can afford to sit on the sidelines. My friend Ben Jealous has never been the type to sit on the sidelines -- and now, he's in the race of his life to fight for Maryland families as governor.
I joined him in Maryland yesterday to talk about his plans to lift up working families, because there's simply too much at stake to step back. Will you stand with me and show your support with a donation of $5 or more right now?
Ben is someone who always stands up for what's right -- especially when it's hard. He has spent his career giving back to Maryland communities, from serving as the youngest president of the NAACP to investing in startup businesses as a venture capitalist.
He meets people where they are and listens to what they need -- and he's not afraid to pursue bold ideas to help people, even if others call them "pie-in-the-sky."
That's why I know he's the best choice for Maryland's next governor. Working families deserve nothing less. If you believe it too, donate $5 or more right now to help elect Ben Jealous as the next governor of Maryland.
Thanks,
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand
