Donald Trump may be able to keep the FBI from getting to the bottom of the allegations against Brett Kavanaugh, but the FBI is not the only investigative game in town. An active criminal investigation of Kavanaugh by authorities in Maryland would put a serious hitch in the giddy-up of Senate Republicans who plan to elevate Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court next week.
That’s why I just sent the following email to Maryland Attorney General Brian Frosh at oag@oag.state.md.us, and why I strongly encourage you to do the same:
Dear Attorney General Frosh,
It is my understanding that there is no statute of limitations on sexual assault in Maryland. Accordingly, I am hereby requesting that you launch an immediate, formal investigation into allegations that Brett Kavanaugh committed sexual assault against Christine Blasey Ford in Maryland in 1982, and that you notify the Senate Judiciary Committee that you are doing so.
Of course, this new investigation may well take time away from the Emoluments Clause lawsuit that Frosh is currently waging against Donald Trump… but justice demands it anyway.
