Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz, a leading candidate in June’s Democratic primary to run against Republican Governor Larry Hogan, has died, very suddenly. He awoke at 2:30 this morning complaining he felt ill, was rushed to the hospital, and was pronounced dead at 3:22 a.m. Kamenetz has served as Baltimore County Executive for the past eight years and before then had served on the Baltimore County Council. As far as anyone could tell, he appeared in good health right until the end.
Our thoughts go out to his wife and children. May he rest in peace.
It may be too late to remove his name from the June primary election ballot.
