As I watched today’s DACA meeting one thing really bothered me. At one point tRump said that he knew all the people at the table and he liked all the people at the table, “except maybe one or two” that he doesn’t like, but that was okay. Like sophomoric teenage boys, the camera shot showed the group of men giggled and laughed, as if they were all in on the joke of who tRump didn’t like — all but Steny Hoyer. He remained stone-faced.
Durbin giggled like he was literally tRump’s right hand man.
It’s bad enough that the Republicans have sold out to be part of the tRump “in” crowd, but to watch Democratic representatives try to be there too, is downright disgusting. His comments of dividing and conquering are not ones to laugh at; tRump throws those lines because on any given day, anyone at that table — Democratic or Republican — will be the “one or two.”
In third grade, my daughter had 2 girls in her class who chose a different girl every couple of days to befriend and another to ostracize. The 9 year-olds were finding themselves looking to be the “special one” and joining in on the ostracism to the others. It took losing recess and writing essays on “what is a friend,” and re-arranging seats and organizing who was to play with whom for a month before it was fixed. Do we need to do this with our political representatives?
So thank you Steny Hoyer, for teaching decorum. Take a lesson Durbin.
I was glad to see the old Lindsey Graham back for the DACA talk. I think when Russia hacked his campaign / email, they must have found something very compromising because he’s gotten behind tRump faster than he ever got behind any other man.
Come on Dems! Let’s stop trying to get him to like you, and more importantly, why would you want to be liked by someone that treats people like that? Smarten up!
One more thing, Forget Oprah. I think Joe Biden / Amy Klobuchar 2020. If Joe won’t run Amy should with Tim Ryan (OH).
