Going to the People's Climate March in DC? Join the DKos Group! Meet @ 10:00 AM, Navy Memorial

Hello, Kos folks planning to head to DC for the People’s Climate March! I’ll be there too, and I hope to gather with a group of us to march as a Daily Kos contingent.

My plan is to rendezvous on the plaza in front of the U.S. Navy Memorial at 10:00 AM. As it happens, the staging sections for the march have just been put on line — see scheme here— and we fit nicely within the third group, the “Builders of Democracy” where we will stand with others  who are the “defenders of our democratic institutions.” Given the large number of people who will be assembling, it might still be tough to find each other, but here is my proposal. On the Navy Memorial plaza, there is a bronze statue of a sailor next to a duffle bag. I think that’s recognizable enough — so unless anyone has a better idea, that’s where we’ll meet.

We are likely to have individual Daily Kos signs instead of a banner, so please let me know if you can join our contingent; that will help me plan a count of prospective sign-carriers. (Slogan ideas are welcome, and naturally you may bring your own.) Feel free to drop a comment here, the first of several posts to promote this get-together, or via Kosmail. You can also send me an email if you don’t mind disclosing your own. Mine is peregrinekate AT gmail DOT com.

Please feel free to spread the word! We’re happy to have non-DKos-users join our part of the parade. What better way to spend a lovely spring day than in defending democracy and the survival of our planet in something close to the state it is in now, in the company of tens hundreds of thousands of friends and allies?

Of course, if you cannot make it to DC, please do what you can to support marches in your own area. This link lists at least some. If there’s no march, or if you cannot participate, there are many, many other ways to take part. Together, we can save our democracy and save our planet.

Stay tuned in the next few days for more posts about the People’s Climate March in DC, including tips and logistics. And starting this Saturday, keep a lookout for the #SciCli blogathon.

Daily Kos SciCli Blogathon is LIVE all next week 22-28 April. A Week of Action begins Saturday, April 22 with the March for Science and concludes Saturday, April 29 with the People's Climate March. (Preview post by boatsie, on Why We March)
