Received this e-mail today from Rep. Chris Van Hollen’s (D. MD) U.S. Senate campaign:
Friend, Over the last few months, it’s been shocking to see how unapologetically Mitch McConnell and other Republicans have declared their intention not to consider the President’s nominee for the Supreme Court. Frankly, it is unacceptable. That’s why I, along with a group of my colleagues, just introduced legislation requiring Congress to remain in session through the summer recess unless the Senate holds confirmation hearings for a nominee by July 19th. Please add your name now to tell Republicans in Congress: There will be no summer vacation until you do your jobs! July 19th will mark 125 days since the President nominated U.S. Circuit Judge Merrick B. Garland for the Supreme Court -- which would be the longest period a Supreme Court nominee has ever had to wait for a hearing in U.S. history. Here are the facts: Republicans in the Senate know that Judge Garland is a qualified candidate for Supreme Court, but they’re continuing to play politics with the highest court in the land. That’s not a decision we can afford. And not the type of service to our country that Americans deserve. We must come together and make our government work for all its citizens. But if we don’t make our voices heard today, nothing will change. Sign on today and tell Republicans in the Senate: Do Your Job!http://action.vanhollen.org/DoYourJob Thank you for speaking out on this critical issue, Chris
